How to get to Montezuma Costa Rica?
If you are planning for a honeymoon in Montezuma Costa Rica, please note that there are a couple of ways of getting there. Obviously you will have to land in San Jose (the capital city) first if you are on an international flight. From San Jose you have the options of either flying or driving to Montezuma. However since there is no airport or landing strip in Montezuma, you have to fly to Tambor which is the nearest town from Montezuma. From Tambor you can either rent a car or take a bus to Montezuma. There are about 7 to 8 flights departing daily from San Jose to Tambor and it usually cost around USD160 for a return flight. Alternatively you can take a leisurely drive from San Jose to Puntarenas. From there you need to take a ferry to Paquera. There are 2 ferry terminals at Puntarenas but you would need to take the Naviera Tambor ferries at the northwest end of the town as those are the only ones that can carry vehicles. The old terminal which is located behind the market only has small ferries that carry and bicycles. Once you reach Paquera, you can continue your drive towards Tambor and subsequently your final destination. The whole trip takes about 4 hours but you get to enjoy the lush and tropical scenery along the way.
