Data Tape with Boise Employee Information Gone Missing

The Boice City Mayor’s office announced that the personal information of approximately 300 current and former employees of the city was stored on a missing data tape.

The data was being sent to a benefits consulting company called Mercer, when it was lost by the courier.  A similar event was in the news regarding a consultation befing performed by Mercer for St. Luke’s Regional Medical center.

Apparently the tape contained employee data from St. Alphonsus Regional Medical Center as well as Idaho Power.  The tape was lost in transit to Seattle in March of this year.

Mercer is offering employees affected by the error with free credit checks to monitor indentity theft related problems.
