Can Anyone Sue for Anything?
It really seems that people sue anytime they think that there might be a quick buck to be made. I can’t really prove it, but it looks to me like the worse the economy gets, the quicker some people are to sue. Doctors seem to have big targets painted on their backs because most of them carry Medical Malpractice Insurance. Take a quick look at the settlements that are reported in the press. Some of them are just plain ridiculous and reflect a vindictive nature rather than an actual loss. Perhaps it would be prudent to reexamine the system if we truly want to keep future medical costs under control.
