Prepare The Area Before You Mulch
Before the you order a truck load or buy a couple of bags of mulch you will want to prepare the area to be covered. You may find that pounding in a few stakes to define the area that will be covered will help you visualize the project easily and it may help in keep the spreading of the mulch even and neat. Once the area is marked then it is time to remove all weeds and saplings and if there is old mulch already there then turn it over with a rake to get some air into it. Now you are ready to add the new layer to your area. Note that it is a good practice to leave at least an inch around tree trunks.
