Public spending cuts and the job market, is this the time to be going freelance?
Due to huge public spending cuts there could be as many as 16,500 people about to hit the job market. Many of these may decide on going freelance and becoming contractors. It is currently a strong time for freelance contractors as many company’s look to cut their costs be employing less people and instead looking to contractors to work on fixed fee projects for fixed amounts of time.
This works so well for a business as they can budget exactly what they need for a project and what level of profit they will get. It also means they have less overheads as they won’t need to rent such a large office with contractors often working from home.
