The oldest evidence of blown glass ornaments can be traced back to the pre-Roman Era when people use non transparent glass beads and amulets. Despite having a history spanning thousands of centuries, glass did not occupy an important place till a couple of centuries ago. In the initial stages of its discovery, glass was just used to made vessels or containers that could hold something in it. The art of glass blowing was a far cry. Egyptian and Mesopotamian CivilizationsEven during that time, glass objects were the possessions of just pharaohs nobles and high priests and were out of reach of common men because the art of making glass was known only to a few and hence vessels made from them were sold at exorbitant prices.
